David Byrne has become a well known cycling advocate in New York City over the past few years. His book The Bicycle Diaries chronicles his experiences cycling around the world on a foldable bike. His most current project focuses on creating a bike share program in New York. He hopes this will spread to all major cities around the world. Many European cities already host these share programs and I would love to see one in our fine city.
The next generation of fixed gear riding is beginning to emerge.
When I saw this video I thought about growing up and learning to skateboard by watching videos of the early Birdhouse, Hook-ups, Flip, and Shorty’s teams. The stuff they were doing, at the time, was revolutionary. Now my generation has taken that and added a layer of really technical tricks on top creating a new standard. So when I watch videos like this or videos with the young FGFS kids, I can’t even imagine where these sports will be in five years.

Roadies aren’t a bunch of jack-offs.

The St. Louis Wolfpack Marathon Crash Race is in 6 days. Are you ready? My ankle isn’t quite back online but I will be there cruising around on a freewheel. I wouldn’t miss this monumental event for anything.
St. Louis is stepping up their cycling game to prove to the rest of the world that they do have a scene to be reckoned with. On April 15th, St. Louis will be hosting the St. Louis Wolfpack Hustle Marathon Crash Race. This will be the first Marathon Crash Race to happen outside of LA.
The race is brought to you by Wolfpack HuSTLe, Swedlife, and SpokedSTL.
Empire
Is a film by Luke Stiles & Christian Thormann. It follows some of the raddest NY cyclists through their city. They shred hard. Trust me. If you keep up with the urban cycling then you will recognize a lot of the folks in the film.
St. Louis premier on Sunday, April 7, 2012 at 7pm. The film will be showing on the big screen at The HandleBar (4127 Manchester, 63110)
Here is a little teaser of some of the prizes up for grab at tomorrow night’s Lit-Up Alley Cat III: Lit-Up Buildings. Click here to see the rest of the photo set on Flickr.
I can’t stress enough how excited and thankful we over at SpokedSTL are to have the support from our sponsors. It is a really big deal to us to put on the best cycling events in St. Louis and we couldn’t do it so successfully without help from our sponsors. You have probably hear of most or all of them, but if you haven’t then please take the time to check out some of the rad products they have to off us bikers.
Prizes from SpokedSTL, HandleBar, PBR, Cherokee Street Bikes, Velocity wheels, Tree Bicycle Co., Knog, God and Famous, Road Runner Bags, Soma and Pake. As usual Chris from A Greener Film will be in the crowd taking pictures so get hype!

hint hint: there are more than 5 checkpoints this race.
Three days ago Lee posted on the FBC blog that the Full Moon Fiasco #100 will be the last “in its current form.” This means only 15 more rides, folks. Don’t miss them.
Most importantly, don’t miss the next ride. It’s on April 16th (yep, a Friday night) and since its April you know what this means. Aprilween! Don’t show up without a costume. No. Seriously. Don’t bother coming unless you are dressed in your best.
